The Emerald Coast and Merida

The Emerald Coast is one of my favorite places to relax, take in the warm weather and friendly Mexican atmosphere. Who can resist the cool white powder sand, the tranquil beaches, the tropical vegetation and its warm waters which are so inviting? Not me, that’s for sure.
Seafood and authentic Mexican Restaurants abound throughout this coastline. I especially like the traditional Yucatecan Cuisine which is rich in flavors and colors.

On the Emerald Coast you can enjoy fishing, diving and other boating activities, so the Merida Coastline can be the perfect place for you. Here you can go swimming at the beach, or rent a boat for the day to relax on the waves or just fish all day. Grouper, Snook and Snapper are are abundant in this area and are always a favorite of mine to cook. Best of all the people who work on the boat will clean the fish for you, so all you have to do is pull out your favorite recipe and cook up a storm with a glass of wine of course.

The coast offers a lot of privacy. It is not overrun by tourist and there are no hustling and bustling crowds. This might have been great when I was younger, but now being in a different stage in my life I like to take things easy, and this way of life is much simpler.

But if you are looking for some action Merida is only 25 minutes from the coast. Not many people know about this spectacular city, yet it is one of the safest, most modern, cleanest and beautiful cities in all of Mexico. Merida has great shopping for clothing, furniture and groceries. It has large chain hotels and quaint boutique hotels all over the city, and an International Airport which has flights from Houston and Miami. The Mexican and Yucatecan cultures are joined together here as one in this rich historic areas of the Yucatan.
